I've lived in Colorado Springs for almost 30 years. I still remember how excited I was when Starbucks opened its first store on Academy. Now there are nearly as many local coffee shops here as craft breweries, and some days a good cortado beats a pint.
Here are 24 coffee shops worth going back to: roasters, cozy work spots, kid friendly cafes, and a couple of newcomers that opened in the past year. Plus a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony and one of the best tea houses in the city.
Some are serious roasters. Others are community hubs with fresh pastries and live music, and a few serve hearty breakfasts or full meals.
What they share: good coffee, local owners, and that feeling of home after time on the trail.

Walking into Misty Mountain feels like stepping into a friend's very eclectic living room. Stained glass in the windows. Thrifted furniture. Walls covered in local art and little treasures. It's kitschy in the best way, and you'll want to look at everything while you wait.
Owners Dakota and Stormy Wilkerson opened the shop in December 2025, a block south of Colorado College's Ed Robson Arena. It runs zero waste: drinks come in glass, to go orders in mason jars, and beans come from Humble Coffee, a local roaster.
The seasonal drinks are the reason to go. The barista recommended the Blood Moon Cider, an amazing concoction of hibiscus tea, homemade cider and cinnamon with a touch of edible sprinkles.
They also make house herbal blends if you're skipping caffeine.
Good to know: Bring your own cup or plan to use theirs. No paper here. If you do take a drink to go, bring back the mason jar and get $1 off your next brew.
Landmarks Coffee | NEW
Landmarks Coffee new bricks and mortar location

If you've spotted the Landmarks coffee trailer around town since 2024, you'll be happy to know it finally has a home. Brandon and Toni Watts opened their brick and mortar shop in 2026, along the walking park between Weidner Field and the Epicenter apartments.
The beans are roasted by Corvus Coffee in Denver. Beyond coffee, the menu has Altitude Energy (a fruity, plant based energy drink), monthly seasonal specials, muffins, and breakfast burritos.
We have a soft spot for Landmarks.
When my daughter got married, we booked their coffee truck for her bridal shower, and our guests raved about the coffee and the service. It's so fun to finally have a shop to walk into.
I'm a traditionalist, so I go for the oat milk latte. If you like something more adventurous, there are plenty of fun drinks to try, energy ones included. Either way, get a breakfast burrito. They're worth the money.
The owners built Landmarks as a gathering spot without alcohol, which makes it a great meetup before or after a Switchbacks match.
Hillside Gardens | NEW (Seasonal)

HIllside Garden’s coffee shop invites you in for drinks with homemade syrups.
Coffee with mountain views and four acres of gardens around you. We’ve lived here almost 30 years and only discovered Hillside this fall. I’m bummed we didn’t find it sooner, but we’re devotees now.
Hillside Gardens started as a dairy farm in the early 1900s, became a neighborhood nursery in 2000, and grew into one of the prettiest event venues in town. From spring through fall, its coffee shop is open to everyone, so you don’t need a wedding invitation to enjoy the grounds.
We stopped in after a long hike, ready to sit and rest. Little clusters of Adirondack chairs are tucked around the grounds, with quiet music playing on speakers.
In the back there’s a garden station where you can pot your own plants, and in the fall there’s an adorable pumpkin patch. The coffee shop makes great drinks with homemade syrups, plus cocktails if you’re in the mood.

Story now has two locations.

Jives Coffee Lounge is a standout Colorado Springs coffee shop nestled across from the main square, where you can catch the vibrant summer farmers market on Saturdays.

Switchback Coffee Roasters

Switchback is one of the city's best known roasters, and it placed second in the nation at the 2018 U.S. Coffee Championships. The Shooks Run café is just east of downtown, a few steps from the Shooks Run Trail.
Come hungry. The breakfasts are great, and the outdoor seating is lovely on a sunny morning. My usual is the granola bowl with Greek yogurt and a drizzle of local honey. Simple, and it keeps me going all day.
Their second spot, the Roastery Brew Bar, sits in the old Helen Hunt Elementary School on Moreno Ave, just west of Memorial Park, with a patio and its own parking lot.
It's in the same Hillside neighborhood as Hillside Gardens, so you can pair the two for an easy morning: coffee and breakfast at the roastery, then a wander through the gardens.

In the old Wild Goose Meeting House space, The Best Coffee and Lounge comes from the same family behind Monse's Pupuseria. The rooms are big and bright, with plenty of seating, so it's an easy place to settle in with a laptop for the morning. The staff are genuinely kind and make you feel welcome.
My cappuccino came with a pretty flower in the foam, a little green bear stenciled on top with the word "Enjoy," and two chocolate covered espresso beans on the saucer.
It's a sweet touch that makes an ordinary coffee break feel like a treat.

Shooks Run Trail | Just east of downtown
An easy, paved path that follows Shooks Run Creek for about 4 miles, from the Rock Island Trail near Lilac Street south to Fountain Boulevard. It winds past historic neighborhoods, small parks, and community gardens, with benches and shade along the way.
Look for the old rail underpass near the south end, built in 1887. Stroller, bike, and wheelchair friendly, with a gentle downhill if you head south. Watch for a few street crossings.
Pikes Peak Greenway | America the Beautiful Park, downtown
The city's main north to south trail runs 16 miles along Monument and Fountain Creeks, mostly wide and paved with rolling hills instead of steep climbs.
Start at America the Beautiful Park, right by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum (the park's fountain has been off the last few summers due to drought), then grab your coffee at Landmarks a short walk away by Weidner Field. Expect fast bikes and lots of sun, so bring a hat.

My cortado, served with sparkling water, was excellent, and the bar seating comes with stunning views of Pikes Peak.
Friendly staff, a great selection of teas, house-roasted coffee with incredible depth, and cozy spaces make this spot a true local gem.

2,768 steps and about 2,000 feet of climbing in less than a mile. It's a doozy: your legs will burn, your lungs will complain, and the view from the top makes it worth it.

Red Mountain Trail | Manitou Springs

Want the views without the Incline’s 2,768 steps?
Red Mountain is 4.5 miles out and back with about 1,160 feet of climbing, and the trailhead is just minutes from the Incline. A stream runs beside parts of the trail, and the rocky top looks right across at the Incline.
It’s a great warm up hike if you’re visiting from out of town and still getting used to the altitude.
Wear spikes in winter, since a few steep sections get slippery.

This is my stop almost every time I hike North Cheyenne Cañon. It's tucked in an old house a few minutes from the trailheads, with a sweet garden patio in summer.
The coffee is some of the best around, and on a cold winter hike, nothing warms me up faster.

For a quick, easy hike with killer views, check out Pulpit Rock! Just a one-mile trek with a chill 250-foot climb, it’s the perfect spot for sunrise or sunset vibes. Hop off I-25 at exit 148 by University Village, park in the dirt lot, and follow the trail signs.
You’ll wind through meadows and switchbacks with awesome views of Pikes Peak and the whole range. It’s an ideal mini-adventure anytime you need a nature fix!
Palmer Park | North Union Blvd
Palmer Park is a go-to for outdoor fun right in the heart of Colorado Springs! Not only does it have awesome views and easy access, but there are also two large dog parks where we always let our dog Annie burn off her Brittany Spaniel energy before hitting one of the 26 trails.
With trails that wind up to the summit, you’ll get sweeping views of the city and Pikes Peak.
The paths are well-marked, so it’s easy to find your way around even if you’re just exploring.
Just a heads up: while dogs are supposed to be leashed, you’ll find a lot of happy pups off-leash here!

Just a short drive north of Colorado Springs, Lake & Lantern Cafe is one of the best-kept secrets in the Tri-Lakes coffee scene. Locals knew this spot for years as the beloved Speedtrap Cafe.
In late 2024, new owners Racquel and Chris Garcia transformed it into a cozy cafe serving creative coffee drinks, mocktails, and good vibes with high-speed wifi.
Tucked near the Palmer Reservoirs and surrounded by scenic trails, it's the perfect pre- or post-hike stop and exactly the kind of hidden gem that makes exploring coffee shops near Colorado Springs so rewarding.

For something completely different, order buna, the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Beans are roasted and brewed in front of you and served with incense. The portions are huge and the honey wine is worth trying.
Ethiopia holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in Africa, and Ethiopia was my home base during high school. Our youngest daughter was born there, too.
It's also where coffee is said to have been born. Legend says a goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats were so full of energy after eating the red cherries of a certain tree that they couldn't sleep at night.

While we are all about coffee, it’s fun to branch out and enjoy a cup of tea every so often. Melody and her family recently discovered Yellow Mountain Tea House in Old Colorado City, Colorado.
As tea shops in Colorado Springs go, this one is a stand out for so many reasons.
Like many tea shops, the process is a bit unique. You head up to the counter, peruse the menu on a small table, and then the fun begins. The restaurant is filled with bins of tea, and you pick three to try.
On a cold wintry night, we spent the evening at Yellow Mountain Tea House. Once we sat down, everything slowed down in the best way. Our server poured each tea into large glass carafes, giving us time to savor every sip.
When the food arrived, it was piping hot and perfect for soaking up all the rich flavors of broth, vegetables, and spices. The service was impeccable, too—no rush, just an evening of sipping, chatting, and enjoying every moment.
What a delightful experience!

Colorado Springs Coffee Crawl
In 2026, Colorado Springs held its first Coffee Crawl, a caffeinated cousin of the city's popular Crafts & Drafts Passport for local breweries and distilleries (still good through December 31, 2026, if you want to pair your coffee crawl with a beer one).
From mid September to mid October, a digital pass got you a $5 credit at each of 16 independent coffee shops around town. Early bird passes were $20.
It was such a fun way to find new places, and several shops on this list took part, including Misty Mountain, Landmarks, Frankly, Hold Fast, and Treehouse.
